Biogas for farmers
in Dominican Republic

My first full-time job took me to the Dominican Republic, where I managed the construction of a pilot low-cost biogas plant for Merk Energy. With my Latin American background, I oversaw its development to supply gas for the workers' dining hall kitchen and improve fertilizer production on a cow and pig farm.

Biggest learning?

We didn't include the farmer workers and all stakeholders into the design process properly, big mistake!  I learned that technology and engineering skills are important, but expectation and stakeholder management can save or kill a project in seconds!
